Billing questions

Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan at any time?

Yes, you can upgrade or downgrade your plan anytime to better align with your evolving needs. You will continue to have access to the features of your initial plan until your subscription finishes. Please note, that if you are on a pre-existing Legacy plan you can only select to upgrade/downgrade to a Free Forever, Core or Plus plan going forward.

Customers on Core or Plus plans can upgrade in-app at any time. Customers on a Free forever plan can upgrade to Core directly in-app, or upgrade to Plus in-app or by contacting our Sales team.

Can I remain on my existing Legacy plan?

Yes! You can remain on any pre-existing plans. Please note that if you would like to upgrade or downgrade your account going forward you will only be able to choose between the Free, Core, and Plus plans.  

 

How are credits used?

The Core and Plus plans are annual, upfront plans—there are no monthly payment options available.

Each plan includes a base credit allocation. These credits can be used throughout the year to invite candidates, source candidates, and access other features, giving you flexibility based on your hiring needs.

Customers on Core and Plus plans can upgrade to a higher credit tier at any time directly within the application, or opt in to our new auto-upgrade feature.

If you choose to enable auto-upgrade, your account will automatically move to the next credit tier when your credit balance falls to 100 or below. This ensures you never run out of credits and your hiring process continues without interruption. You’ll also receive an email notification each time an auto-upgrade occurs.

When you upgrade to a higher credit tier:

  • The cost is charged upfront
  • Credit pricing is the same for both Core and Plus customers
  • The price per credit decreases as you purchase more (volume-based discount)
  • There is no pro-rated pricing—you pay the difference in cost between your current and new tier
  • All credits, including the additional ones, expire at the end of your current contract period, so be sure to plan accordingly. Your renewal date remains unchanged

You’ll have access to a clear overview of your credit balance and expiry date within your account, and a credit ledger will be available to help you track historical usage.

Core plan customers can purchase up to 20,000 credits per contract year. If you need more than 20,000 credits, please contact us to upgrade to a Plus plan. A credit calculator will be available for Core customers to estimate their yearly spend and help them choose the most suitable tier, while Plus customers will be guided by our Sales team to estimate ideal credit tiers.

Credit consumption

Credits in TestGorilla are used in two situations: sourcing candidates and evaluating candidates.

Core plan

  • Your Core plan includes 250 credits.

  • Evaluating a candidate costs 3 credits when the candidate starts an assessment.

  • Including a one-way AI video interview costs 1 additional credit per candidate.

  • AI Resume Scoring is included at no additional credit cost.

  • Sourcing a candidate through TestGorilla Sourcing costs 1 credit.


Plus plan

The Plus plan offers customized credit tiers.

  • Evaluating a candidate costs 3 credits when the candidate starts an assessment.

  • Including a one-way AI video interview costs 1 additional credit per candidate.

  • Including a conversational AI video interview costs 2 additional credits per candidate (library access on Plus only — see article).

  • Sourcing a candidate costs 1 credit, with the same rules as the Core plan:

    • If you source a candidate and later invite them to complete an assessment, you’ll only be charged once for each action: 1 credit for sourcing and 3 credits for evaluation (4 credits total).

    • Credits are only deducted once the candidate completes any qualifying questions and starts the application process.

Plus Plan feature: The Plus plan also includes access to our full conversational AI video library, which features pre-built questions and validated scoring rubrics.

Examples

Here’s how credit usage works in practice:

  • Sourcing only: Contacting a candidate through Sourcing = 1 credit.
  • Evaluation only: Inviting one of your own candidates (e.g., from a job listing or your talent pool) = 3 credits once they start the assessment.
  • Evaluation + AI video interview: Inviting a candidate to complete an assessment with an AI interview = 4 credits total.
  • Sourcing + evaluation: Sourcing a candidate and then inviting them to an assessment (no AI interview) = 4 credits total (1 + 3).
  • Sourcing + evaluation + AI video interview: Sourcing a candidate and inviting them to an assessment with an AI interview = 5 credits total (1 + 3 + 1).

If you are on a credit-based Legacy plan:

Candidate credits are used on a per-candidate, per-assessment basis.

  • 1 candidate can take 1 assessment for the cost of 1 credit.
  • 1 candidate taking 2 assessments costs 2 credits.
  • 2 candidates taking 1 assessment costs 2 credits.
  • 2 candidates taking 2 assessments each costs 4 credits.

Assessment credits are used when an external candidate has been invited to the assessment and has started taking it. If you need more credits than your plan included, our system will allow you to accrue overages. We will charge for these each month.

If you run out of candidate credits while an assessment is live, we've got you covered! Your candidates will never be blocked from taking their assessment. Each candidate that takes the assessment will accrue a credit to be charged to your account. As soon as your candidate balance has been paid, you'll have access to the results.

 

Do you offer a free trial?

We don't offer a free trial. The Free forever plan is not a trial. It gives you 10 credits every month, AI Resume Scoring on every applicant, 5 essential skills tests, the ability to build your own one-way and conversational AI video interviews, custom questions, and qualifying questions. There is no expiration and no time limit.

If you'd like to explore features available on Core or Plus (such as team seats, ATS integrations, sourcing, the full test library, or custom branding), our Sales team would be happy to walk you through the options.

 

Do you offer pay-as-you-go plans?

We no longer offer a Pay-as-you-go plan. Our previous Pay-as-you-go plan is now a legacy plan

 

How can I buy more credits if I run out?

If you are on the Free forever plan, your 10 credits replenish on the 1st of each month. There's no top-up on Free. To get more credits sooner, you can upgrade to Core or Plus directly in-app.

If you are on a Core or Plus plan, you can either upgrade your credit tier manually in-app at any time, or enable auto-upgrade to move tiers automatically when your balance drops to 100 credits or fewer.

Manual upgrades allow you to move to a higher tier whenever your hiring needs increase. With auto-upgrade enabled, you’ll be moved to the next tier automatically, and you’ll receive an email notification each time your account is upgraded.

There is no pro-rated pricing—you simply pay the difference between your current and new tier. All credits, including those from your new tier, will still expire at the end of your current contract period.

If you are on a Legacy plan and need more credits than your plan included, our system will allow you to accrue overages. We will charge for these each month on your billing date. You can learn more about this here.

 

I'm having trouble accessing my billing details.

The Plan & billing tab is accessible to all users so you can see what plan you're on and how many credits are available, but only the account owner can change billing details. Please contact the responsible person on your team. In the interests of data protection, we will only discuss account/billing details with the Account Owner.

 

Where can I enter my company's VAT details?
 

VAT details are entered at the checkout screen when you are upgrading your plan and can be updated by managing your billing information.

If you are charged VAT, you will be informed of this during checkout, as it is not included in the advertised price. If you do not see a place to enter your VAT number, this is because you are not being charged VAT.

 

Can you provide me with a quote or purchase order?

Yes, we can provide a quote for your desired plan. Please contact us for further details.

 

Do you offer discounts for non-profit organizations?

Yes, except for government and education organizations. Contact us with proof of your non-profit status, and we will provide you with a discount code to use during checkout.

 

How can I cancel my plan?

We’re sorry to see you go! As with other billing items, only the account owner can cancel your plan. To cancel, navigate to the Plan & Billing tab and click Manage plan. Then, continue with the next steps to confirm your cancellation.

Your plan will continue to be active for the duration of the billing cycle and you will still have access to all data and features during that time. If you are on a Core or Plus plan, all credits, including the additional ones, expire at the end of your current contract period.
