One ranked list, two talent pools
Every Gorilla Sourcing search covers 900M+ global profiles. Within those are 3M+ skills-tested candidates: people who created a TestGorilla profile themselves and have already taken at least one of our skills tests.
You search them all at once and get one ranked list. The difference is what you see on the card. Skills-tested candidates bring a real validated test score with them. Everyone else shows their professional profile.
This article explains where profiles come from and what a score does and doesn't tell you.

The two pools, global and skills-tested pool
Gorilla Sourcing ranks every profile against your criteria and puts the strongest matches first, whichever group they're from.
- Skills-tested candidates show their TestGorilla score for a specific test on their profile.
- All other global profiles show their professional profile only. We never estimate or fill in a score.
Want to see only candidates with a score? Open the Skills tested tab in your results.
Where skills-tested candidates come from
Skills-tested candidates set up their TestGorilla profile themselves. They choose to make it visible to recruiters, including their skills test results. We don't create profiles on anyone's behalf.
Their scores come from one of two places:
- Self-testing: they took a test from their own profile to show what they can do.
- An assessment for another company: they took it while applying for a role elsewhere. And gave consent to showcase their scores.
What "skills-tested" means, and doesn't
A skill score is the candidate's percentile on a TestGorilla test they actually took. It's real, not an estimate.
It doesn't mean:
- They were tested for the job you're hiring for.
- TestGorilla has endorsed or recommended them.
- They scored well. Skills-tested only means a score exists, not what it says.
To compare candidates on the skills your role needs, invite them to your own assessment. Everyone takes the same test, so the results are directly comparable.
Where global profiles come from
Global profiles come from trusted data providers and are built from publicly available professional information, such as job titles, work history, education and skills. We review the data regularly, but a profile can occasionally be out of date or incomplete. If something doesn't look right, let us know.
For how we handle personal data, see our Privacy Policy.
