What is TestGorilla Sourcing?
TestGorilla Sourcing simplifies and improves the hiring process by providing access to job seekers with validated skills, enabling recruiters to quickly identify and connect with qualified candidates. It helps remove guesswork from hiring by providing a database of candidates who have already taken TestGorilla tests.
Note on language: At this time, TestGorilla Sourcing is only available in English. If your account language is set to a non-English language, the sourcing product will be temporarily hidden from view. Rest assured, your existing credits, invitations, and any other sourcing-related activity will remain fully intact. Once you switch your language settings back to English, you’ll regain full access to the sourcing functionality. We appreciate your understanding and are working to expand language support in the future. |
Using TestGorilla Sourcing
When you access TestGorilla Sourcing for the first time, you’ll be greeted with a welcome screen. From there, you can easily begin your first talent search by simply entering a few keywords related to the role or skills you're looking for.
Candidate cards in depth
The candidate card displays major components.
- Job role: This is what the candidate selected from our pre-made list of job roles. This is the same master list of job roles we use on our assessments.
- Test scores: We show the 6 highest-scoring tests. If the user has specified a test in the test filters, we prioritize showing those tests on the candidate cards.
- Work experience: We show the company name and job name of the 3 most recent jobs of the candidate.
- Resume: This is disabled unless the candidate has been invited. Only once the candidate is invited can the customer download the CV.
Tests shown on the candidate card
Test type | Shown on the candidate card? | Displayed score |
Personality tests | No | - |

Expanding the candidate card
To learn more about a candidate, simply expand their profile card. You can click on the Work Experience or Test Scores sections to view the full details, including a complete list of previous roles and all available test results.
Searching for candidates
To begin a new search, click “Start New Talent Search.” You’ll then be guided through a few simple steps to help you find the right candidates:
-
Define your search criteria:
Start by entering a free-form text query that describes the type of candidates you’re looking for. You can include details such as the job role, relevant skills, and preferred location. -
Choose whether to use an assessment
You can decide whether to link an assessment to your search:- If you choose to use one, the assessment will be automatically attached to any invitations sent to candidate.
Please note: An assessment can only be linked to one talent search. If it has already been used in a different search, it won’t be available for reuse. -
Add job title and description
Enter the job title. Adding a job description is optional, but it can help provide more context for candidates.
Additional filters
Once your search results are displayed, you’ll see a filters icon at the top right of the page. Clicking this icon opens additional filtering options, allowing you to further narrow down the candidate list based on your specific criteria.
These filters include:
- By tests (maximum of 6)
- Location
- Desired salary
- Years of experience
Saving candidates
If you come across candidates you’re interested in, you can save them by clicking the icon on their profile card. Saved candidates will appear under the “Saved” tab for that specific talent search.
There’s no limit to the number of candidates you can save. Please note that saving a candidate does not reveal their personal information. To view those details, you’ll need to send an invite, which will use one credit.
Inviting candidates
Inviting a candidate uses one credit and sends a personalized email invitation directly to their inbox. You’ll have the option to customize the subject line and message content. While the email is sent from TestGorilla, any replies from the candidate will go straight to your email address.
After inviting candidates, the following things happen:
- The candidate will move to the Invited tab within that talent search.
- Their name and profile photo will become visible.
- You can copy their email address by clicking it on their profile card.
-
If the candidate has uploaded a resume, you’ll be able to download it from the Saved tab.
How do credits work?
As a paid customer (regardless of plan), you automatically receive 30 free credits to begin using TestGorilla Sourcing. Each credit allows you to invite one candidate—so with your initial credits, you can invite up to 30 candidates to your open roles.
After using your initial 30 credits, you can receive 30 additional free credits by taking part in a short feedback survey. We’ll ask about your experience using TestGorilla Sourcing to help us improve the platform.
You can invite candidates to as many jobs as you're hiring for. Just keep in mind that each candidate invitation uses one credit, regardless of the job.
We’d love to hear your thoughts! Complete the feedback survey and we’ll gladly top up your account with 30 more free credits to continue sourcing great talent.
Common questions
Will candidates still have to take an assessment?
This is completely up to the customer. The customer can choose to put anything in the invite email they will be sending to the candidate.
How will the candidates reach out to the recruiter?
We advise recruiters to include contact information in their invitation to candidates. If candidates reply to the invite email, the email will also go directly to the email of the recruiter who sent the invite.
I have spent all my credits. How do I get more?
We would love to hear about your experience using TestGorilla Sourcing. Simply complete the research survey, and you will receive 30 additional free credits to recruit talent.
My problem is that I have too many candidates.
A great problem to have! We suggest giving TestGorilla sourcing a try to directly source talent that aligns with your opportunity. Plus, the 30 credits are completely free for you to use while you recruit for any role!
Will I see candidates who have applied to my company previously?
Yes! If a candidate applied to a role and was not hired, you may see that candidate in the results, but only if their verified skills align with your requirements.
